Hello! I'm Sun Kyung!


Today, I want to talk about Economics - GDP. Our school first grade students have Economics class 3 times a week. Actually Economics class is for 2nd graders, so it is so difficult to study Economics. Many students have difficulty studying Economics and so do I.


However sometimes I enjoy Economics study, because I can learn about interesting things that have much relationship with our lives. 


One of the most interest thing is GDP. I have heard 'GDP', but I didn't know about it. GDP means 'Gross Domestic Product'. It is used to know how our society's economy has developed than before and compare with other country's economy.


GDP is made by adding value of all products which are produced in one country during 1 year.







South Korea is 15th country in this chart. Like this, we can compare economic lever with other countries by using GDP. United States is the 1st country, and China follows it really fast these days.


Many people use GDP because it is the most suitable thing to show economic state. But there are some things that GDP can't show to us.


First, GDP can't measure the value of product and services that are not dealt in market. There are also many activities such as mom's housework but GDP can't measure them because It measures value only in the market.


Second, something that causes bad effect on society or environment can increase GDP.


Third, activities which improve the quality of life are not included in GDP.


We can also know the 'per capita income' by dividing GDP with population.


Economics are really boring and tiring thing. But when you understand flow of money and meaning of word, you can be rich easily!!


So try having interest in Economy.

Prejudice about American culture: Jeong DaYun

• Americans are very fat. Because they eat meats every day.
• Their school life is freer than Korean school
• Most Americans have blond hair and blue eyes.
• Americans' personality is really individualistic.
• Most Americans are white.,
• Men are very kind to us but philanderer.
• America's schools allow students to make up, put on earrings and have boyfriend.

Korean Food Culture: Jeong AnJi

We are like many foods, so we eat variety food.

Especially,m we eat traditionall food in Chuseok. For example, galbi, many herbs, songpheon, jeon(similar pizza), japchae. This is very delicious, and we usually eat kimchi, rice, and soybean soup...

But!! We often eat chicken, pizza, hamburger, jjajang myeon, jjambbong, ham....so Korea increase obese people.

Actually, if we eat only Korean food, we will very healthy. Korea food is not instant food.

We must eat balance.

Syria Crisis: Lee Jeongbin

About tow years ago, Africa and middle Asia want democracy. But their government choose authoritarianism instead of it. most of all country fight their government and win, so they can achieve it. however Syria is not find it. Also they are fighting the government. Syria president name is Bashar Aasad a dictator. The citizens protest no violence, but the government killed many protesters even they mobilize army. So many people died and other country have damaged by Syria government, for example number of syria refugees top million mark with more on the way. The refugees emigrate such as Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt. So many countries want to publish Assad, in particular the U.S.A, France, the U.K. In U.N security council was held, three countries agree this but China and Russia disagree. So their plan is crash. 

Why they disagree that? That’s because Russia trade a lot of thing with Syria like weapons, ship. Also China cooperations economics with Syria. Even they are worried that punishment will lead to more problems, more fighting, and possibly a war. they just agree peace plan, which is suggested by Kofi Annan. The government accepted Mr Annan’s plan but at now perhaps killed many people. So Kofi Annan resigned. Syria still suffer from violence and dangerous of terrors. Many countries help Syria but it is hard to enter the country. Even the U.S.A does not allowed to trip syria. Citizen lost their home, family, money but is most important thing is human right. 

recently I saw newspaper I was really really surprised at someone use chemical weapons to kill people. there are many view who use it. Syria crisis is the best problem in the world. I think syria government must give up their politics and Assad quit president. Because he command the army to kill people. So they must promise people sorry and give medical care and food need anything. Syria crisis must be solved. Also the government guarantee people’s human right. They need many help. I hope that international society give help they can recover and find democracy.

K-Pop: I Seul

K-Pop!!

I enjoy listening to k-pop. especially, My favorite singers are Block b and Exo!!!♡

Block b is charming group and exo is very very handsome group.

I wish you listen to exo "Growl" and block b "nillili mambo"

maybe You listen to these music and you allured with them.

I worry about K-Pop: Oh Yun-won

Many K-pop music is popular all around the World. But this music is almost comic music, like "Gangnam Style" and "Bar Bar Bar." Which korean doesn't share good, but all around the world people just watch these movies and think these are comic and ridiculous.

So I'm worried, because they can think Korean are funny and ridiculous. Distorted cognition can be constructed in foreigners.

Sun Kyung - Korean Food

Hi! Sun Kyung again~ :)
I want to introduce our famous Korean Food to you, I hope that you visit Korea and try some these food.

First, Bibimbap! 'Bibim' means blending and 'bap' means rice. It means blended rice. Actually there are many things in bibimbap : various namul, rice, gochujang, chamkireum. The recipe is very easy. Just put those ingredients and blend them! Easy recipe, but taste is really great!

Second, Bulgogi! Bulgogi is the most famous food for foreigner. Because it is very very delicious meat food. Korean usually eat it on Korean holiday or special day. With bulgogi, you may have meal in a flash.

Finally, Tteokbokki! It is sliced spicy rice cake. In Tteokbokki, we can also enjoy it with odeng, ramen and cheese. The recipe is simple, so even young people can cook this alone in house when they are hungry.

There are many delicious and amazing food in Korea. Instead reading this post, I want you to come to Korea, and try them!! I can sure that you will fall in love with our Korean food. Thanks^^*

Introduction: Park Sun Kyung

Hi^^! My name is Park Seon Kyeong. I'm 17-year-old girl and I live in Damyang, South Korea. I go to Naju High School and I'm in English Conversation Club. My birthday is 1997, October 27th and my bloodtype is O. I'm positive, little naughty. I usually would rather be alone than with many people. But I like to get along with people, too. When I should live with someone who I don't like, I think that I don't have to get angry because of one and it's just his or her character, so I should admit it. This is an adventage of my character. So I hardly get stress with people.

My hobby is dancing, and it is my favorite activity. Actually, I was a club president of dancin club named 'Step Up' when I was middle school student. I love to dance with my friends and stand on stage. Although Not on the stage, I like dancing with people.

There are 5 people in my family. Mom, dad, older sister, me and younger brother. All of us are Christian. My sister is 22 years old and her dream job is pediatrician. My brother is 13 years old and he is a member of soccer club of his elementary school. Recently, he is going to the actor academy. Our family is really happy and peaceful.

My dream job was a judge. Because I thought judge will fits on my character. But thesedays I am worried about my future. Actually, I really want to be a musical actress since I was middle school student. But I can't speak out my real dream because I can't sure being musical actress. I don't know I can do it well when I become a musical actress. Most of all, it is not stable. So I am really concerning about my future.

I want to travle many many countries in the future. I like to experience many different cultures and meet foreign people. In addition, I like taking airplane! I have been to United States, China and Philippines. Whenever I visit foreign country, I feel great and excited!! 2 years after, I want to travel around Europe with my sister and brother. I really want to visit Venezia called as a city of water. When I studied Social in 7th grade, I saw a picture of Venezia and I planned to go there since then.

I love eating!! I don't eat only what I wants. Especially, I like spicy food and cheese in it. Korean food is usually spicy, so I love our Korean food.

In the future, I want to teach Hangeul(Korean language) to children who don't have their language in Africa.

Korean High School Clubs: Lee Jeong Bin

My friend said that he participated in baseball club in the USA. I was surprised at Americas’s club system. In Korea, most high schools have many clubs. But it is just study even, middle school also has study club. 

I was part in study club all of my middle school life. But in the USA has many club such as music, sport, art, etc. Also Korea has its club but we can active just Wednesday and Saturday. Features of the club in Korea, they tend to significant study club because of the KSAT(수능). Oneday, I discuss about difference of club USA and Korea with my homeroom teacher. He did not go to USA. But he always talk to native teacher, so he can know system of USA club. He said that the biggest difference is most of students mainly active in the ARTS. But Korean students active for the study. Just in my opinion, Korea club systems is for education. If many clubs has in korea, many people want to part in this club. So they must be competition to enter club. Fail to enter the club, maybe they disappointed that they can't not join in the club. 

But korea does not have many clubs like USA. Surprisingly many people want to make clubs. But It is hard to make it. Because School makes list of club and students choose it. If we want to make club, the rule is very difficult like over some people, why we want to make it, and how to active like them. To make clubs is difficult. last USA and Korea have devote club. But korea need to time for school but USA just think devote for other people. I am so impressed. Like this there are many difference of club system. I hope that our country has more clubs and fun activities.

I go to Naju high school ,I am first grade, I enjoy english club in school and live in Naju.

My dream is dentist. Because I want to heal many people in the world. but now I have a problem.

frankly speaking, I don't know what I want to. so I will have a time enough to agony.

My hobby is meeting my friend. so I go to delicious restaurant with my friend. This is very interesting.

But everyone didn't have time enough. so we can't meet often.

and My favorite food is a noodle hash made by my grand mother. she made me noodle sometime.

It is very nice city, because naju has popular local produce, That is Pear. it is very sweet and watery. Now, let’s introduce myself. As I said before, I’m Ji Hyeon, and 17 years old. Hello, my name is Lee Jeong Bin. I have one older brother and two younger sisters. She is also Naju High School student. My hobby is listening to music. In Korea most of people like K-pop also many countries fascinated by it. But I don't like it. That's because their song's genre is very various but I just like ballad. So I like Park Hyo Shin 4men llike Korean vocallist. When I saw a drama name is Secret Garden I heard very good song as OST. I think their voice tone is special and have good skill, so I like them. Especialy my nickname is goldlicks because my fringe is browm. I don't know why it is. It was fun.

When I was middle school student, I participated in simillar project. This project is spread about Korea tradition and cultures. We used E-paL. But my friends and foreigners did not answer to our and it was not going well. So I dissapointed that if they were answer, I can reply about Korea.

Frankly speaking many foreigners don't know Korea maybe they just think China, Japan. incidentally many foreign people know SAMSUNG but don't know Korea. I'm so sad that I want to inform about Korea.

Also I want to discuss about big problem in the world. For instance Eygpt, Syria, economic and many politics. I want to know many foreigner's think and talk about it.

My nickname is minxing, but I'm not chinese, I'm Korean.

I was born in Korea. I'm 18 years old now.

My duty is principal of speaking English club in Naju-High School.

I want to be a stewardess. Do you know that job? Yes, a stewardess is a business woman on an air plane.

Why do I want to be a stewardess? There are many reasons for me.

First, I like meet new people everyday or everywhere. I think that's cool.

When I meet new people anywhere, I said "HI" or "HELLO". That's a first step. And we share our names and personal information.

Finally, we are friends. Friend!! How interesting!

Second, I like speaking English and learning about other country's languages. I have been learning about Japanese and Chinese a little bit.

That classes are interesting for me.My Chinese and Japanese speaking ability is not good. But my purpose is just to learn about many languages.I need experience for languages.

Third, I'm tall. Just that. That's really good merit for me. Haha :)

Hi everyone!

My name is Sarah Chen, and I am a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at Naju High School in Naju, South Korea. In June, I graduated from Princeton University, where I studied public policy and international affairs. I am loving my Fulbright experience so far, especially the opportunity to study Korean with 79 fellow new ETAs, my fantastic homestay family, and the welcoming students and teachers at my school. I am teaching twelve classes of first and second-years in high school, as well as the conversational English club class that is going to operate this blog for the next year.

We will blog in English every week. Some of the topics will be assigned, like this week's self-introduction, and others will be the students' choice. The aim is to practice our English and connect with readers from around the world, so thank you so much for helping us with the latter.
